We created a feasibility study and developed a prototype designed to support physicians in the management of patients for treatment planning and post-op in abdominal surgery. It utilized deep-learning algorithms for the automated segmentation of the regions of interest in 3D MRI and CT images. Common uses of the tool were regions with tumors or segmentation of specific organs, such as the pancreas. The prototype showed that the algorithms successfully segment lesions on 3D medical images to allow surgeons to visualize and interact with structures in pre-operative and intra-operative phases.
